参加登録人数が12万人を超えました。
WYDシドニー大会の一年前で、どんどん増えている12万もの参加予定者。
2007年6月26日火曜日：
12万人、約2000のグループが、来年シドニーで世界最大の若者イベント(訳注：WYD)に参加するために登録しました。
「静かにではあるけれども、1年以上前にWYD08のための海外からのグループ登録はどんどん多くなっています。
そして、12万5,000人の他国からの巡礼者の目標数値を上回るかもしれないということを示唆している」
と、主催者が言います。
「約10万人の他国からの巡礼者と2万3,000人のオーストラリア人巡礼者がいます。」と、最高責任者ダニー・ケーシーが言いました。
「私たちは、WYDが近くになるにつれて、オーストラリアからの巡礼者の数が非常に増えると考えています。」と、ケーシー氏が言いました。
WYD08は2008年7月15-20日に開催され、教皇ベネディクト16世がオーストラリアにくる最初の行事となります。
現在の巡礼者の登録人数トップ1は、以下の通りです：

*オーストラリア 2万2,900人
*イタリア 1万5,400人
*ドイツ 8,000人
*ニュージーランド 4,200人
*フランス 3,700人

さらに約50万人以上が、WYD08に参加することになるでしょう。
個人登録は2007年7月下旬に開始されます。

120,000 planning to attend World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney Registrations going strong with just over one year to go!
Tuesday 26 June 2007: Almost 2000 groups representing more than 120,000 people have registered to attend the world's largest youth event in Sydney next year.
Although still more than a year away, overseas group registrations for World Youth Day Sydney 2008 (WYD08) have been coming in strongly, suggesting the target of 125,000 international pilgrims may be exceeded, organisers say.
"Almost 100,000 international pilgrims are expected at this point in time, and nearly 23,000 Australians," Chief Operating Officer Danny Casey said.
"We expect the numbers of Australian pilgrims to grow much stronger as we get closer to the event," Mr Casey said.
WYD08 will be held from 15-20 July 2008, and will feature the first visit to Australia by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.
The top 12 source countries, with current expected pilgrim numbers, are:
* United States 30,400
* Australia 22,900
* Italy 15,400
* Germany 8,000
* New Zealand 4,200
* France 3,700
* Spain 2,900
* India 2,600
* Venezuela 2,400
* Fiji 2,000
* Nigeria 2,000
* Mexico 1,800
More than 500,000 people are expected to take part in WYD08.

On Sunday 1 July, WYD08 will launch its theme song - the Guy Sebastian-penned Receive The Power - to coincide with the Arrival of the WYD Cross and Icon of Our Lady in Australia.
